I EuroCup, 6-8 November 2009

(London, UK)

The first Deaf EuroCup was organized by the Deaf International Basketball Federation to develop national clubs in Europe. Six men's and four women's teams from European countries took part in the tournament. The women’s team from Germany “LEVERKUSEN” and the men’s team from Croatia won first place.

Following the results of the first Deaf EuroCup and thanks to the active participation of sports clubs DIBF decided to organize the Deaf EuroCup annually.

The number of teams increased: 9 men's and 4 women's teams. The women's team “GSV MUNICH” (Germany) beat the team “GSC NUREMBERG” (Germany) with the score of 45:47 in the final. The men's teams “GLORIA” (Russia) won the team “ASKBN DIE PATRAS” (Greece) with the score of 64:77 in the final.

Eight men’s and four women’s teams participated in the EuroCup. The women's team “GSC NUREMBERG 1911” (Germany) beat the team “GSV MUNICH (Germany) with the score of 58:54. The men's team “GESTAS” (Lithuania) won the team “ASKNDE PATRAS” (Greece) with the score of 89:67.

Interesting: due to the absence of the judging the two teams “GLORIA” (Russia) and “ASKPN PIRAEUS” (Greece) were given third place.

The largest number of teams in the history of the Deaf EuropCup took part in the tournament: 11 men's and 9 women's teams. The women's team “GESTAS” (Lithuania) beat the team “IK of HEPATO” (Sweden) with the score of 71:26. The men's team "GESTAS” (Lithuania) won the team “PIRAEUS” (Greece) with the score of 59:79. The Lithuanian team became the two-time Deaf EuroCup champion (2011, 2012).

The men's team "GLORIA” (Russia) beat the team “ASD PESARO" (Italy) with the score of 68:54. The men's team “GLORIA” (Russia) became the two-time champion of the Deaf EuroCup (2010, 2013).

The women's team “GESTAS” (Lithuania) became the two-time champion of the Deaf EuroCup. The men's team “GLORIA” (Russia) became the three-time champion of the Deaf EuroCup

Only four men's teams participated in the EuroCup. Women's teams were not present because of the terrorist attack at Ataturk airport in Istanbul. The men's team “DOS DNEPR” (Ukraine) beat the team “GLORIA” (Russia) with the score of 70:62. The team “DOS DNEPR” became the two-time champion of the Deaf EuroCup.

Twelve men’s and three women’s teams participated in the EuroCup. The women's team “WCSN WROCLAW” (Poland) won the team “LKSG LODZ” (Poland) with the score of 46:57. The men's team " GLORIA” (Russia) beat the team “DOS DNEPR” (Ukraine). The Russian team became the four-time champion of the Deaf EuroCup.
